The purpose of these posts is to encourage and show individuals and families on how easy it is to go out for an adventure! My weekend Micro-Adventure Duration - 2 half days Gear - Comfy sports clothing, climbing harness, belay devices, climbing shoes, and my chalk bag Over nights - home! On this weekend I went climbing! Day 1 was at our staff climbing wall to help staff refresh their knowledge on our protocols for using the climbing wall. Then, it of course ended up into a bit of fun and testing out our new routes! We spent a good 2 and a half hours setting up, taking down, and climbing!
Day 2 involved climbing at our local climbing gym! Entrance was cheap and if you didn't bring any of your climbing gear (Or didn't own any) it was all provided! We climbed and chatted for almost 3 hours! I also improved on my climbing and got a new personal best! Then we went for dinner and watched one of the world cup matches! Your weekend Micro-Adventure Activity - climbing at your local climbing gym Duration - 1 or 2 half days Gear - Comfy sports clothing and a pair of socks (You'll want to wear socks if you are going to borrow a pair of climbing shoes), snacks, and water. Over nights - home! Consider making it a trip! Maybe go for a nice lunch before hand or a nice dinner, or maybe watch a movie afterwards! Outdoor activities don't always have to be far way. Particularly with climbing. Going to an indoor gym will be a great transition into eventually climbing outdoors! And indoor gyms can be more accessible than outdoor sites. Particularly with costs! Enjoy your weekend and go explore! In order to encourage individuals to go outside more I decided to show how easy it can be to plan a weekend adventure! Although starting with this adventure probably isn't the best idea. My weekend Micro-Adventure Duration - 2 whole days Gear - Quick dry clothes, Luna Sandals, Salomon running vest, baby food, water, first aid kit, and electrolytes Over nights - hotel I spent the weekend focusing on the big race. Now, a lot of time went into the training, however most of my micro weekday adventures went towards training for the 21km I would run over the weekend. I had a mix of activities that impacted my training, I cycled, swam, kayaked, ran on a treadmill, and even did a bit of climbing! It was a big weekend away and I bit costly compared to most of my adventures, however it was worth it because I had earned it and it was something that I wanted to re try! I remember feeling thrilled (and sick) and the end of my first 21km race back in 2016 and wanted to get the feeling again! I could not have been more pleased with myself! The hard work and training really paid off! At the end of the race I found myself in 18th place out of the 745 runners! I was well proud of my accomplishment and it showed me that going out and adventuring beats everything else! Your weekend Micro-Adventure
